- “DURBAN DIRT CHALLENGE”
The “DURBAN DIRT CHALLENGE” is set to become Durban’s biggest and most popular MTB event, settings its sights as Durban’s Premier MTB event. This event will give competitors a precisely organised and excellent value for money event, that is right on their door step… not many events can offer that! There are many MTB events around KZN, but very few that can be as easily accessible as the Durban DIRT Challenge.
The 2013 race will start and finish from Umhlanga College next to Gateway. The event will use existing EThekwini Mountain Bike routes and will tap into some of the Green Corridor and other popular EMBA routes taking riders in and around Umdloti and Umhlanga. The 2014 routes are already underway with the event looking to finish at the ever popular Green Hub, at Blue Lagoon. This popular finishing venue, is home to the Duzi Canoe Marathon and the Duzi2C stage race and will give the Durban Dirt Challenge a fantastic and central finishing area in 2014 onwards.
Events on offer are: 5km Kids race, 25km ride and the 45km race. There will be a free Kids area by Garvz Sports as well as a beer tent and food stalls to relax after the racing. With the event being on a long weekend, the plan is for people to relax and enjoy the end of year atmosphere and long weekend.

- The Mystery of the Missing Bike
Hi Margie
We rode this Sunday morning from a friend’s house and when we had finished we put our bikes in the back of my husband’s bakkie and came home.
It was a short trip from Ashley Drive in Hillcrest through Old Main road down into Kassier Road to Assagay by the new hospital.
Somehow during that short trip my bike went missing – whether it fell off or was taken off we are not sure however it was cable tied in two places and very secure – so a complete mystery to us.
It is a black with white cross bar, soft tail Trek bike with ZTR Crest wheels and kncu handles bars and seat post with a Top Peak Bag for energy bars etc. I had my Roag board secured to my bike at the front (07832) with a Rhino Zululand Board on top
If anyone saw anything or knows anything about the bike please can they contact me on my cell –0835319417
Many thanks and regards
Jennifer Rigby
Finally, last but definitely not least, wishing each one of you a safe and peaceful end of year, a very blessed Christmas, and every best wish for 2014.
Margie
