Safe roads in Hillcrest

Can you add to this?  If so please let me know.

I have copied below a list of safe and not safe roads to use on the Hillcrest area sent in by an EMBA rider. The suggestion is that riders can add to this, to try and make life as free from disaster as possible!! I will put this up onto the website and onto Facebook. Please add to the facebook page if you have areas which you consider No Nos or OKs!! Or send it me and I will distribute.

With the unfortunate vehicle / bike accidents I thought it might be a good idea for us to compile a list of “safeish” and”no-go” roads in the Hillcrest area. Maybe we can circulate this and get continuous feed-in to update the safety of these routes? I’m happy to assist!

My little group is paranoid about safety and we’ve got a couple of routes that we reckon are as accident free as you’ll get :

Nqutu Road – on the pavement

Delamore Road – closest thing to a cycle track beside it.

Warrior Road – on the pavement.

Plantations Road to the bottom of M13 bridge – usually ok but there’s also a path on the left. Just watch the fore and aft bridge traffic.

Pavement from Toyota main road to Heritage Market – and vice versa.

Ridge Road.

Hilltop Road.

Shortlands – except at start and finish of school.

Cliff Road.

Homestead Avenue.

Dirt track beside the railway line from Emberton to Station Masters.

Bad news areas are:

All of Inanda Road.

Springside Road.

Main Road.

Kassier Road.

Botha’s Hill to the View Restaurant.

Obviously, cross at the robots with the green man flashing!!!

Tks Stephen,

Kind regards Margie
