Trails update 03 March 2021

Shongweni: 

I would like to once again thank those members for their donations to the Bridge rebuild fund and the “Rebuilder volunteers”. Comments received have all been very complimentary.

We have provided additional funding to catch up on the trail maintenance. The weather over the past months has been very testing to say the least. Uzinzo has also started cutting their cane breaks and I have also received positive feedback. 

North Coast:                                                            

The North Coast has also not been spared by the weather. I would like to thank members for the donations of pallets. Charlie and his team have been able to sort out the exit from Allies Alley and a few muddy areas further in. Swallow Trail is still not rideable as it borders on Victoria Lake and is still swamped. With focus on the popular trails he has not been able to get to the Pipeline either

General: 

I have had a meeting with the TH Management, to discuss and finalise the approval of trails and mapping them. The current Shongweni maps as on the EMBA website are current. The North Coast maps are being updated and it is planned to include Route rides from Cornubia and Umhloti, e.g. 20km; 40km; 60km, etc. The approved maps and route rides will then be uploaded. These meetings will be happening more frequently in future.

I would also like to thank those members that have been reporting dumping, Motorcycles/Quad bikers who have not only been damaging Cane, but also some of the bridges
